What I did this week.
In 2014, I officially opened my tiny little art school (a one room classroom) near MCAD + Mia in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis.
This week was the first official week of summer camp for 2026 AND the beginning of year 11 of summer art camps @thecreateeverydayclassroom
This week we made art, sewed pockets, collected + arranged, visited Mia, met up with our extended community, the Twin Cities Urban Sketchers, made a mess, were silly, danced. We spontaneously identified land forms (can you say isthmus?) + different bodies of water, we discussed the significance of Juneteenth, shared stories about exotic pets. We studied artists like @explorationoftheday (Keri Smith) and Peter Blake (just to name a few). We celebrated each other while eating @glamdolldonuts
I fall in love with my students every season. And I grieve the end of every week. And summer moves FAST and it’s my favorite so I will continue to love on it until the first hint of fall makes its appearance.
