slow pivot

As I found myself spinning out yesterday, not able to find a clear thought (a result of the pivot I take from @thecreateeverydayclassroom to @karimaxwell_artist, again), I referenced notes to myself from a year ago at this time.

I realized I. AM. CURRENT.
Sure, I have pages of to do lists. That’s not what I mean. What I mean is, I am current with where I am as a human. Even though I feel like I am spinning out, there is no unfinished business to sort through, challenges to maneuver (for today) or experiences to recover from.
This used to be a common story for me.

I am just spinning out! That’s all. And, eventually, the spinning will stop and the next right thing will become clear.

This post is in response to the prompt: How do I track and celebrate progress?

In my painting + studio work, I had several ways I wanted to stretch myself this year. My main focus was to really stretch my palette. I did this (not to the extent that I visualized I would but I definitely DID) AND I realized I stretched myself in several other approaches to my painting too. Places that came as a surprise to me. More about THAT, later…

And, for now, going to add to my idea list (much different than the “to do” list, btw): Create a painting (or several) that represents all the stretching you’ve done this year.

This photo (above) + video (below) is unrelated (but, come to think of it, alpacas certainly stretch😂)

From a day last summer when I was with a bunch of fun people and we got a special invite to spend some time in a field with alpacas.
