The Genius Zone by Gay Hendricks

"It is very difficult, also, to sacrifice one's suffering.  A man will renounce any pleasures you like but he will not give up his suffering." - G.I. Gurdjieff

"The more you engage with your genius, the luckier you get.  I am still trying to figure out how that phenomenon works but I've seen so many examples of it..."

"Since addictive tendencies tend to be wired in us humans, we need to be thoughtful about choosing positive things to be addicted to." - Dr. William Glasser

Perform the genius move:

  • Notice you are feeling unhappy regardless of reason
  • Wonder: what am I trying to control that's actually impossible for me to control?
  • Get an insight about what you've been trying to control or, if nothing comes, let your mind continue to wonder about it
  • Acknowledge that it's outside your control
  • Let it go and let it be

"The biggest barrier blocking our path to genius is a habit of fear-based thinking."

"Putting an end to (this) habit is a powerful investment in our genius.  Paradoxically, our struggle with negative thinking ends only when we declare no control over it."

"I commit to letting go of trying to change the past.  I commit to letting go about worrying about  the future.  I commit to letting go of trying to control other people.  I commit to channeling my precious energy into positive actions I can take now."

"Make a safe and welcoming space for your creativity."
