I'm In Charge of Celebrations: dioramas

Yesterday was the second class of four in our Byrd Baylor book series.  The book, I'm In Charge of Celebrations merges the magic of observing and experiencing nature with an empowering message of our ability to create our own celebrations on a daily basis.

As a class, we discussed what might be our favorite kind of celebration.  The children started by drawing and painting props or participants that would be a part of this imaginary "favorite" event.

Campers and campfires, dragons and dinosaurs, an octopus eating birthday cake, and a water celebration with water bottles, waterfalls, rivers and music were all put into play.  The children chose a box and a background with which to tell their story.
