children's art class + an adult painting party

In art class, our drawing warm up was inspired by the children's book illustrator, Jeff Mack.  Although I don't recommend his books for reading content, the children enjoyed his creative illustration.

Some children also chose warm up exercises that were inspired by Joan Miró.

They loved referencing the book, Draw with Joan Miró by Ana Salvador.

After taking a snack break and reading The Little Book of Alliterations by Felix Archer (a recommended read), we studied Georgia O'Keeffe's watercolor landscapes and practiced the wet on wet watercolor technique.

On Saturday, I brought my box and bags of goodies to a home in St. Louis Park and facilitated a painting party for adults.  The hostess chose Claude Monet as our subject of study.
